Brigid’s Wood
Most Veterans have PTSD of some degree from differing types of trauma while they were in the military. There are programs for veterans with PTSD from combat or military sexual trauma, but those programs are not inclusive to veterans who do not fit into those specific categories. Brigid’s Wood offers a place for veterans with PTSD from any type of trauma to come and find a place of healing.
Brigid’s Wood Forest Walk is a half mile walking trail maintained by OFN in conjunction with Jackson Hill Park and Marina. The trail has four sitting areas to help those recovering from trauma and for others to understand the Grief, Self-Care, Communing and Rejoicing required to gain control and maintain the healing process for trauma and depression recovery. Brigid’s Wood provides people in need a place to reconnect with nature for themselves, their families, and supporters in a low-pressure environment.
